Hallie's CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
Jenn's PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA |
Julia's HID FROM OUR EYES |
Our only dilemma is we're not sure what beverage to bring - be it a cocktail or a mocktail - what do you suggest, Readers? Hot toddies? Moscow mules? Egg nog? Margaritas?
What's your go to beverage?
I’m so excited to be going to a Christmas party. The Jungle Reds cocktail party is on my calendar, the vodka is in the freezer, and the cranberry juice is in the refrigerator. I should probably get a lime to slice, so that it will be a stylish Cape Codder. I’m staying with a simple drink I know. Well, I might try something else if I see something I think I’d like in the comments, as long as it’s simple, too. I may not go as far as putting on makeup, but I will be dressed somewhat Christmasy. Can’t wait!
ReplyDeleteA Cape Codder! Perfection!
DeleteMy calendar is marked and I’m looking forward to this exciting event!
ReplyDeleteYay! Can't wait to virtually visit!
DeleteYay, my calendar is marked for the Reds cocktail party, so see you there!
ReplyDeleteSimilar to Kathy Reel, I have vodka and gin and cranberry juice so I will come up with a red-coloured drink to try during the event.
A red beverage does seem appropriate!
DeleteI guess I'll have to pick up some cranberry juice! This has been on my calendar, and I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteCranberry juice is always a must!
DeleteCan't wait!
ReplyDeleteWhen we first discussed this I found a drink made with blackberry bitters, which is a fairly unusual drink ingredient. However, I have half a freezer full of wild blackberries, so I did some research and found a recipe for a bitters made with 100-proof vodka, lemon peel/pith, allspice berries and whole peppercorns. I just finished it yesterday, and tried it last night in some vodka with soda. Yum.
But now I've lost track of the "red" drink it was meant for. More research!
Bitters, by the way, turns out to be dead easy to make.
See how fun and educational this blog can be? I love that you learned how to make blackberry bitters!
DeleteThere's also a teeny, tiny chance that this blog leads one astray occasionally.
DeleteWho knew!?!
DeleteThis sounds delish and I had no idea you could make your own bitters! Fascinating!
DeleteWho knew? This is fascinating, Karen!
DeleteI think that I will drink red wine. It will last longer than Scotch and cocktails aren't usually my thing. I had to laugh at the giveaway...I already own all of those books. I love you, Reds!
ReplyDeleteRed wine is my go-to, as well!
DeleteWe love you, too!
DeleteJudy, that is the best thing I have ever heard! Thank you! if you were chosen as the winner, we will send you any book you like! (as long as the Pen has it!)
ReplyDeleteI think I will go with red wine, too! Although 5:00 Eastern is a little early… So it might have to be decorative :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's never too early!
DeleteHank, I'll take down one of the Waterford crystal water goblets and fill it up. Festive enough?
DeleteYes, VERY festive!
DeleteI'm deciding which of our fancy yard-sale-find wine glasses I'll proffer. With a bit of Chianti Classico, I think.
Isn't the song "it's 5 o'clock somewhere" - it'll be 3 here and I don't care. LOL!
DeleteMy calendar is marked already as well, and this truly is the most exciting event on it! I am likely to end up drinking red wine as well, though I haven't fully ruled out Kathy's Cape Codder. But I'm not a big cocktail person, so red wine is more in my comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteSamesies. But a cocktail does sound temptimg.
DeleteI'll be there (although I already have half these books, but who cares, right?)!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a cocktail. I'm partial to the cider from my local cider house. But now that it's chilly, hot chocolate with a healthy shot of butterscotch schnapps or eggnogg with a splash of Tia Maria and a sprinkle of cinnamon would not go amiss!
Butterscotch schnapps? I clearly need to revisit the schnapps aisle.
DeleteOh yes. Pair it with a dark chocolate cocoa or a double-chocolate and...mmmm!
DeleteSomething wonderful to look forward to, that is for sure! Good choices of books to give away although I have read all but one and I'm not sure how to strategize to get that one. In any case, I know we will all have a ball. See you then!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it, Judi!
DeleteIt sounds like so much fun! Like Judy and Liz, I think I've already read all of these books, but hey, they're all worth a re-read!
ReplyDeleteI have, too, but books make the best gifts!
DeleteWhat Edith said - LOL! Brilliant, Edith!
DeleteI hope to make it to this fun event, with a glass of prosecco in my hand. Bubbles = fun + yum!
ReplyDeleteProsecco is actually perfect!
DeleteI'm with Amanda, Prosecco all the way, but with a splash of Aperol and an orange slice.
ReplyDeleteI love an Aperol Spritz but I’ve been experimenting with red vermouth instead during the winter
DeleteOoh, that sounds fancy. I like it!
DeleteRed vermouth is nice with gin, ice, and a slice of lemon!
DeleteRed vermouth is nice, but it brings with it, for me, memories of a horrendous day-after-the-evening before. The evening was super fun, but the morning-after was almost unbearable. And it was the travel day home from a conference. Poor me! But lesson learned...
DeleteLove the pictures.
ReplyDeleteFor the holidays, I love egg nog, apple cider with mulled spices, hot cocoa with peppermint candy, and mocktails sound good. As I get older, I notice that cocktails do not like me.
I'll try to make the Virtual party. I love doing Virtual events, though most of the time they are Not Captioned. And my cochlear implants are broken. Because of the pandemic, I cannot see my audiologist to get my cochlear implant speech processors fixed. When I went to LLC in San Diego, that was the first time I went to a mystery conference Without cochlear implants and it was nerve racking!
Diana
Oh, Diana that is frustrating. I hope you can get them fixed soon. This year is just cruel.
DeleteThere should be someone you can see to get your implants fixed. Try asking for a new referral, most specialists here in the Bay Area are available now. My husband’s audiologist never closed their office.
DeleteTry Stanford or better UCSF.
Jenn, thanks! And I agree with you that it is frustrating and cruel.
DeleteSusan, Great ideas! Unfortunately, California is on a shut down and it has been back and forth since March. We just started a mandatory shut down this week. Ironically, the Cochlear Implant company asked me to send back the Equipment and I cannot do that unless I see the audiologist who can fill out all the forms to get them fixed at the company.
Diana
p.s. The newspaper today reported 2,027 COVID-19 deaths in the Bay Area.
DeleteDiana, I also have cochlear implants and volunteer for Cochlear America. I know Cochlear America has continued to assist people with issues during the pandemic and my audiologist is still available. Have you tried Online Support for your company? I understand first-hand how life altering it is to be without hearing and I'm so sorry that you are going through this.
DeleteEmily, thank you so much. Do you have the email information for Online Support? It is really tough Especially after all that hype about the wonderful new processors, which turned out to be lemons. I really liked the old processors, which worked better for me.
DeleteDiana, are you in the San Francisco Bay area? I ask because I'd like to get contact info about who is your Area Engagement Manager. The basic Cochlear Customer Support info is: www.Cochlear.com/US/Support. You can Chat online using previous address and using "Contact Us" button. You can email at: customer@cochlear.com. If you want to call or have someone call for you the number is: 800 483 3123. If you let me know your location I'll get contact info for your Area Engagement Manager. Just because we're in the midst of a Pandemic shouldn't prevent you from getting service for your devices.
DeleteI hope I can make it! As for my beverage I’ll have to wait and see what I’m in the mood for.
ReplyDeleteVery wise. We have many days to mull it over.
DeleteNo pun intended?
DeleteI look forward to it! Me and my glass of red wine with a splash of BlackBerry creme de mure. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds divine, Kaye!
DeleteWhat a fun event. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc close at hand.

I'm envying Jenn's Santa hat! We should all be as festive as possible!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this.
ReplyDeletePerfect way to celebrate the season.
ReplyDeleteLois
Red wine for me! What a great way to celebrate friends and family and kick out 2020. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun event. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc close at hand.
