Whether you are one or two at a table, or crowded in with friends and family, the Jungle Reds wish you a day of connection, reflection, and gratitude. Muskogee writer Joy Harjo, the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States, shares her poem about the worlds and lives we make around those tables. We hope you enjoy it.

DeleteYes, I've had some of my happiest times in kitchens--cooking with my mother long ago or more recently with my sister or with friends. Or cooking alone while someone sat at the kitchen table, keeping me company and making me laugh. Thanks for reminding me of that, dear Reds, and Happy Thanksgiving to Reds and Readers alike.
ReplyDeleteI've had the same, Kim, and feel blessed for it.

ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has had a lovely Thanksgiving today. I hit the ground running this morning and have only now sat down in my recliner. The food's been fixed and eaten, including dessert that just about finished us off. It was one of the best Thanksgivings ever. For the first time in three or four years, both of my grown children were together with us for a holiday. My daughter and my son-in-law and my granddaughter were here for a long afternoon and now have gone back to their home. My son is spending the night and will leave tomorrow. He's actually spending two nights this time. Everyone had such a wonderful time being together. We talked and laughed and ate. It's given me such hope for after-pandemic life. I know Covid isn't gone, but this family time could finally happen, and I feel renewed. I am tired but so happy.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I want to echo others here who have said how grateful they are for this community of Jungle Reds. I look forward to dropping in here every day. Sometimes I have to miss, but I try not to. It's one of my favorite places.
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
