Okay, Readers, we have a treat for you today. The cover reveal for our Rhys's spectacular new novel THE ROSE ARBOR is here...
Pre-Order NOW |
London: 1968. Liz Houghton is languishing as an obituary writer at a London newspaper when a young girl’s disappearance captivates the city. If Liz can break the story, it’s her way into the newsroom. She already has a scoop: her best friend, Marisa, is a police officer assigned to the case.
Liz follows Marisa to Dorset, where they make another disturbing discovery. Over two decades earlier, three girls disappeared while evacuating from London. One was found murdered in the woods near a train line. The other two were never seen again.
As Liz digs deeper, she finds herself drawn to the village of Tydeham, which was requisitioned by the military during the war and left in ruins. After all these years, what could possibly link the missing girls to this abandoned village? And why does a place Liz has never seen before seem so strangely familiar?
What a lovely cover!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy cover reveals . . . they certainly add excitement to the waiting for the book to be released . . . .
Thanks, Joan
DeleteLove the cover...and yes, cover reveals let us know that a new book is coming
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous! I love that you staged the story of the missing girls from almost twenty years later, Rhys. Was it tricky researching and writing about 1968 (and isn't it odd that the sixties now qualify as "historical")?
ReplyDeleteThe cover is lovely and haunting - as it should be. Reveals do help build excitement. Congratulations on this one.
It was tricky to write as one piece of the puzzle here opens up a piece of story there
DeleteIt's a great cover for a mystery, not only beautiful but evocative of a bygone time. I am excited about this story since Rhys told us about it. Enjoy, Jenn!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cover! And it sounds captivating!
ReplyDeleteCover reveals are great and they do get me excited for the book. But not because of whatever the cover actually looks like. Rather, for me, it is exciting to know that there will be another book for me to add to my list to read. And I have to say that I am really liking the story synopsis for this new book from Rhys.
ReplyDeleteSo YAAAY for this particular cover reveal today!
I think you’ll enjoy this one, Jay!
DeleteWhat a beautiful cover! I love stories with connections to past mysteries so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this as much as I’ve enjoyed your other standalones, Rhys. I pre-ordered months ago and can hardly wait to read this!
ReplyDeleteExcellent staging, Jenn. Beautiful cover, Rhys!
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds terrific and the cover looks great. August is a long time to wait...but readers know patience is part of the deal. Congratulations, Rhys!
ReplyDeleteLove the description... I canNOT wait to read this, Rhys. And what a spectacular cover. Thanks for sharing it. I adore your standalones.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover - and cover reveals in general. This one sounds engaging!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is great! Sounds like a terrific story and I am so looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteRhys, I recall the discussion here on JRW when you were trying to come up with a title for this book. And the bits you shared of your research and writing. The title and the cover are a perfect fit with the synopsis. I predict a huge success for this book! Can't wait to read it. (Flora)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Flora. The title debate is always stressful for me but I hope the final title fits the story
DeleteCongrats Rhys. What a stunning cover. I would definitely be drawn to it if I saw it in the book store, What an intriguing story - very compelling.
ReplyDeleteCover reveals are a great way to build excitement for an upcoming release! Thanks for sharing this one. Look forward to June.
ReplyDeleteOops published prematurely, Look forward to June when roses will be in bloom here and August when the book releases!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds wonderful, Rhys. I've "wished for it" on NetGalley, so fingers crossed!

DeleteMARGIE: Thanks for the tip about Netgalley. Interesting that The Rose Arbor is listed under General Fiction/Women's Fiction and NOT as a Mystery category, so I missed it.
DeleteYes, it’s available on Netgalley now
DeleteRHYS: Gorgeous cover! I enjoy seeing cover reveals as it gives the reader a hint of what is to come.

ReplyDeleteFabulous cover. Until joining the group, I knew nothing about cover reveals but now I do. Which if great, but it makes me itchy because I still have to wait for the new book be published. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted for you, Rhys--beautiful cover and a very intriguing description. August 6, huh? Maybe I'll have the willpower to save it so it can brighten up the endless plane ride(s) from Zürich to Nashville! And then perhaps I'll be able to tell you in person how much I liked it.
ReplyDeleteI wish I were coming to Nashville but I’m not. I’ve a commitment in England around that time
DeleteBeautiful cover and a very intriguing story. Can’t wait to read this, Rhys!~Emily Dame
ReplyDeleteRHYS: Though the title is hard to see with the colors of the background and the title blending together, it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of your roses would have made a better background for the title if you do not mind my saying this.
And I look forward to reading the Rose Anchor in August. I am preordering the book.
Diana
It’s actually clear in the book cover, Diana
DeleteThank you. I am happy to read that the title is clear on the book cover. Diana
DeleteYour roses are magnificent, Jenn! I wish I could grow roses but I have deer in California who eat everything
ReplyDeleteI live about seventy miles south of you in the southern Bay Area. We have a lot of deer, but they leave the thorny roses alone. David Austen, English roses, grow well and several have a lot of thorns. Might be worth trying.
DeleteSO gorgeous..and what a story! Absolutely cannot wait to read this. Rhys, you are incredible.
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous, Rhys!! And my ARC just came in the mail!! I will post a pic just as soon as I go out and cut some roses to embellish it! (And now I absolutely know what I'm reading next!!
ReplyDeleteOne thing that's changed about cover reveals is that some platforms post the cover before the author is ready to reveal it..so we're a bit at the mercy of someone else. But I adore cover reveals---it's breaking news!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover and I can’t wait to read the book!
ReplyDeleteDebRo
I do love the cover and the story is so intriguing! Can't wait to read another of your wonderful standalone mysteries
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and mysterious. I can't wait!

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading this, Rhys! Now that I know I won’t be able to get you to sign it in Nashville, I will order it from The Poisoned Pen. — Pat S
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking cover!
ReplyDeleteSounds amazing and GREAT cover.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous cover, and I love the pic with it in the roses. Rhys, this sounds like a great read, and I'm hoping to begin reading again by then or before. I just pre-ordered it so I'll have it when I'm ready.
