Cover Reveal: The Rose Arbor by Rhys Bowen

Okay, Readers, we have a treat for you today. The cover reveal for our Rhys's spectacular new novel THE ROSE ARBOR is here...

Pre-Order NOW

More about the novel:

An investigation into a girl’s disappearance uncovers a mystery dating back to World War II in a haunting novel of suspense by the bestselling author of The Venice Sketchbook and The Paris Assignment.

London: 1968. Liz Houghton is languishing as an obituary writer at a London newspaper when a young girl’s disappearance captivates the city. If Liz can break the story, it’s her way into the newsroom. She already has a scoop: her best friend, Marisa, is a police officer assigned to the case.

Liz follows Marisa to Dorset, where they make another disturbing discovery. Over two decades earlier, three girls disappeared while evacuating from London. One was found murdered in the woods near a train line. The other two were never seen again.

As Liz digs deeper, she finds herself drawn to the village of Tydeham, which was requisitioned by the military during the war and left in ruins. After all these years, what could possibly link the missing girls to this abandoned village? And why does a place Liz has never seen before seem so strangely familiar?

Isn't it just fabulous? A perfect summer read.

What do you think about cover reveals, Readers? Do they help you get excited for an upcoming release?

Even more thrilling for me, I received my ARC just in time for a trip to Nevada! Yay! Thank you, Rhys. And, naturally, I had to take a picture of it against my rose bush.

I enjoy cover reveals . . . they certainly add excitement to the waiting for the book to be released . . . .

  2. Love the cover...and yes, cover reveals let us know that a new book is coming

  3. How fabulous! I love that you staged the story of the missing girls from almost twenty years later, Rhys. Was it tricky researching and writing about 1968 (and isn't it odd that the sixties now qualify as "historical")?

The cover is lovely and haunting - as it should be. Reveals do help build excitement. Congratulations on this one.

    1. It was tricky to write as one piece of the puzzle here opens up a piece of story there

  4. It's a great cover for a mystery, not only beautiful but evocative of a bygone time. I am excited about this story since Rhys told us about it. Enjoy, Jenn!

  6. Cover reveals are great and they do get me excited for the book. But not because of whatever the cover actually looks like. Rather, for me, it is exciting to know that there will be another book for me to add to my list to read. And I have to say that I am really liking the story synopsis for this new book from Rhys.

So YAAAY for this particular cover reveal today!

  13. Rhys, I recall the discussion here on JRW when you were trying to come up with a title for this book. And the bits you shared of your research and writing. The title and the cover are a perfect fit with the synopsis. I predict a huge success for this book! Can't wait to read it. (Flora)

    2. MARGIE: Thanks for the tip about Netgalley. Interesting that The Rose Arbor is listed under General Fiction/Women's Fiction and NOT as a Mystery category, so I missed it.

  21. I'm delighted for you, Rhys--beautiful cover and a very intriguing description. August 6, huh? Maybe I'll have the willpower to save it so it can brighten up the endless plane ride(s) from Zürich to Nashville! And then perhaps I'll be able to tell you in person how much I liked it.

  23. RHYS: Though the title is hard to see with the colors of the background and the title blending together, it is lovely.

The photo of your roses would have made a better background for the title if you do not mind my saying this.

And I look forward to reading the Rose Anchor in August. I am preordering the book.

  24. Your roses are magnificent, Jenn! I wish I could grow roses but I have deer in California who eat everything

    1. I live about seventy miles south of you in the southern Bay Area. We have a lot of deer, but they leave the thorny roses alone. David Austen, English roses, grow well and several have a lot of thorns. Might be worth trying.

  27. One thing that's changed about cover reveals is that some platforms post the cover before the author is ready to reveal it..so we're a bit at the mercy of someone else. But I adore cover reveals---it's breaking news!
